Woven hemp fabrics: a guide to the Fiberee range
Manufactured specifically to meet various needs, Fiberee hemp woven fabrics are produced in a wide range of weights, weave structures, and finishing options. A lighter fabric drapes and breathes. A heavier one holds form; resists wear and suits structural applications. Choosing the right starting point before considering finish or width saves time in the sampling stage.
The lighter end of the range
The Gauze is our lightest woven fabric at 85 g/m in 150 cm width. Available in natural main finished and natural softened, it is an open, breathable textile with a refined hand feel in the softened version, well suited to shawls and other light accessories.
The Cheese Cloth is an open weave construction at 163 g/m in 150 cm width. Its transparency and airflow makes it the practical choice for cheese wrapping and food production, as well as decorative applications and flower wrapping where a raw natural texture is part of the appeal.
The mid-weight wovens
Reghina is an air finished fabric at 200 g/m in 150 cm width. The air finish retains the natural surface character of the hemp fiber while removing the raw stiffness of an unprocessed fabric. It is suited to office and summer shirts, boxers, and laundry bags, applications where drape and breathability matter. Available in natural color and dyed.
Carina is one of the most popular and versatile fabrics in our range. As air finished fabric, weighing 230 g/m, it works well for trousers, short sleeve shirts, lighter dresses, running shorts, shopping bags, tablecloths, and napkins. It is available in three widths: the regular-width Carina at 150 cm, the Carina Large at 180 cm, and the Carina Extra Large at 280 cm. The wider configurations suit home textile applications including bedding, curtains, and table linens where a full width without a seam is an advantage. All are air finished and available in natural color and dyed.
The heavier canvas range
Tudor is our woven canvas at 430 g/m, available in 150 cm and 180 cm widths. It suits curtains including shower curtains, heavier trousers for autumn and winter, shorts, shopping bags, toiletry bags, and kitchen textiles such as oven gloves, towels, and napkins. The softened finish makes it suitable as linings for garment and all sorts of bags, including backpacks, where a softer fabric is preferred for direct contact with the skin or other materials.
The Burlap features open, rustic texture suits floral arrangements, packaging, and craft applications where the raw character of a burlap weave is needed.
Allison features a herringbone weave, with a weight of 560 g/m² and a width of 150 cm. The herringbone structure adds visual texture to an already substantial fabric. Available in a variety of colors, it suits shoulder bags, upholstery, and sports shoes, alongside home furnishing applications where the weave pattern contributes to the aesthetic.
Like Allison, Blug is also a 560g/m construction, offering the same weight and width but in a twill weave, which makes it suitable for the same applications where a more technical or utilitarian textile aesthetic is appropriate.
Adrian steps up to 670 g/m in 150 cm width. Available in natural main finished and dyed main finished, it is a true canvas suited to upholstery and shoe lining, and to technical applications requiring structural rigidity. The fabric is not machine washable; dry cleaning is recommended.
Toma is our heaviest woven fabric at 880 g/m in 150 cm width. Available in natural and dyed main finished, it is the appropriate choice for the most demanding applications, including bags of all kinds, backpacks, and upholstery. For larger bag constructions it can be combined with our Tudor fabric, pairing structure with a lighter body panel. The fabric is not machine washable; dry cleaning is recommended.
Finish and width as variables
Across the woven range, finish and width are the two variables that influence application suitability beyond the base weight. The main finish removes the fabric’s raw stiffness and surface residue, while providing the standard level of stability required for consistent handling and performance. The softening procedure takes this further, reducing fiber rigidity and shrinkage rate, while making the fabric more accessible for skin contact applications. Air finishing, used especially for softening Carina and Reghina fabrics, preserves more of the natural hemp surface while removing the harshest elements of the raw textile.
